COA to help VSA meet OSCR compliance targets

June 5th, 2007 - COA Solutions (CedarOpenAccounts) has been selected to provide a new financial management system by VSA (formerly Voluntary Service Aberdeen), a Scottish social care charity providing a range of caring services to local individuals and families, young and old. The COA Solutions system will enable VSA to comply with the financial reporting requirements of OSCR (Office of Scottish Charities Regulator) and create a solid platform for the charity’s future expansion plans.

In a competitive tender against Sun Systems and PS Financials, VSA chose to replace its existing Probity system with COA Solutions’ OpenAccounts Financials and eBIS web procurement and reporting system. VSA selected the COA solution because of its track record in the charity sector, ease of use and advanced reporting capabilities.

It required a more powerful reporting system that allows access via the web for its care management staff located across 30 remote sites.

Ellen Robertson, director of corporate services at VSA, commented, “The COA Solutions system will provide us with a strong foundation for future developments in the charity. The financial management system will enable us to run the finance function more efficiently and reduce costs dramatically by saving on administration time and reducing paper-based processes. I was impressed with COA Solutions’ specialised knowledge and its strong presence in the charity sector across the UK.”

The COA Solutions software is scheduled for go-live in Autumn 2007. The second phase will involve implementation of the eBIS web procurement, enquiry and reporting system.
