With an increasing number of Forces now live with NSPIS HR and expecting high system availability, COA Solutions has introduced a range of DBA Managed Services (DBAMS).

These Services will help Forces maximise NSPIS HR system availability through three Service options, ranging from pre-ordered DBA consultancy to a fully automated 24*7 monitoring/remote DBA Service. A software rental option has been introduced, allowing Forces to take advantage of the DBAMS solution whilst retaining DBA activities within the Force.

Our first DBAMS installation at Lincolnshire is live and available as a reference site. A case study on Lincolnshire's use of DBAMS was released in November and is available on request. This service is now available through the NSPIS HR National Framework Agreement.

COA Software offer 3 levels of DBA Managed Service:

1 - Monthly on-site DBA Services

COA Solutions HR provides resources to perform any DBA task required by the customer. This can include routine database and application maintenance. DBAs can also perform other agreed tasks, such as upgrades or staff training.

2 - Weekly Dial-in Monitoring & Remote DBA Services

COA Solutions HR provides a weekly dial-in service to check and report the status of the Database, Application and System within the confines of the NSPIS HR application.

Pre-purchased DBA service time will then be used to analyse, recommend and complete any actions that arise from this report. DBA time can be used for agreed proactive and reactive customer requests.

3 - 24x7 Automated Monitoring & Remote DBA Services

COA Solutions HR provides 24x7 monitoring of the Oracle / COA Applications with alert facilities set up to e-mail designated contacts.

An automated solution that continuously monitors the NSPIS HR system and associated services. Database, application or system issues can be identified, reviewed, actioned and managed before they become live issues.

Pre-purchased DBA Services time can then be used to proactively manage the environment and reduce the risk of failure. DBA time can also be used for other agreed reactive DBA work as required.
