Fit for a Prince?
COA Solutions is part of the Prince’s Trust Technology Leadership Group that last year raised over £5million for the charity through a variety of staff based and corporate programmes. As a result, we were recently invited to attend the Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success Awards, which took place at the Odeon Leicester Square in London.
The event was the perfect balance of celebration and moderation, in as much as, it was clear the money raised by the Prince’s Trust is not diverted into glitzy parties and unnecessary pomp but is spent directly supporting and encouraging its young people to be and achieve their best. The organisers went to great lengths to deliver a high impact event on a limited budget and this was achieved through clever re-use of stage and set elements and also generous business sponsorship.
The drinks reception held afterwards provided a great chance to network and excess was modified by a buy your own drinks policy. Whilst the invite list contained many of the Trust’s employees and volunteers, it also included the sponsors and business partners - clearly demonstrating the ways in which their funds help young people who face very challenging circumstances.
The event was hosted by GMTV presenters and Trust ambassadors Jenni Falconer and Ben Shephard and included appearances by several stage and screen favourites who had generously donated their time. It was inspirational to see so many young people slowly but surely turning both themselves and the perception of British youth around. It was also a perfect example of how people can be recognised and rewarded without going to excess.
