PRESS RELEASE
COA Solutions Signs-up to Major New Green IT Initiative
17th December 2008 - UK business management and information systems provider, COA Solutions, today announces that it has signed up to the Green Charter of the Business Application Software Developers Association (BASDA), the voice of the UK software industry. This recently launched green IT initiative shows a commitment by software developers to tackling climate change both within their own organisations and through their software systems.

Mark Thompson, Managing Director of COA Solutions says, “We were one of the first companies to sign up to the BASDA Green Charter demonstrating our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint and our commitment to helping businesses to reduce their own emissions. The IT software industry has a crucial role to play in helping businesses to move towards a carbon efficient economy as without the right software systems in place, organisations are unable to effectively reduce waste and cannot accurately measure and track their carbon footprints.”
By signing up to the BASDA Green Charter, COA Solutions agrees to the following:
- We will take pro-active steps to increase the carbon efficiency of our own organisations such that we will be regarded as low-carbon entities
- We will enhance our software solutions to enable customers to become part of a carbon efficient economy
- Via BASDA, we will engage in the debate around green ICT – including measurement, reporting, data requirements and standards
- We will work as an industry through BASDA to educate and increase awareness of green issues as they relate to ICT and particularly business software
Thompson continues, "COA Solutions is fully committed to tailoring our software to address both the business and environmental issues that face organisations today. Our systems provide numerous environmental benefits including the reduction of paper waste and enabling the effective measurement of employees' carbon emissions, whilst delivering substantial and tangible business benefits such as reduced costs, improved efficiency and greater financial control."
In November 2008, COA Solutions was presented with a gold award at this year's National Green Apple Environment Awards in recognition of the environmental benefits of its workflow software. COA Solutions subsidiary, Version One, also received the awards’ highest honour – a 'Green Champion' award for its electronic document management software.

We chose COA Solutions following an extensive market review, because the company's extended finance approach and 'can do' attitude closely supports our ambitions to become a world class financial organisation. Specsavers
